A born record-breaker...
At just 18, Jeremy Flores is the youngest surfer in the professional sport’s history (since new ASP rules) to qualify for the WCT, which brings together the world's top 44 surfers (excluding wildcards). He is the third Frenchman, after Eric Rebière and Mikael Picon, to access the sport's elite circuit, but the first ever European to win the WQS tour.
Beyond qualifying for the WCT and demonstrating exceptional talent for one so young is special enough, but Jeremy booked his ticket for the world's elite next season in style, producing consistent performances throughout 2006. The future rookie can be proud of his flamboyant displays, which included a superb 3rd place in the US Open, a great run in Japan, a place in the final at Lacanau last August and the latest 5th round finish at Sunset Beach, Hawaii.
The Frenchman has been firmly in control at the top of the WQS rankings since summer, and is now reaping the rewards of his season's hard work. He succeeds the brilliant Brazilian surfer Adriano de Souza, 2005 WQS winner, currently in 20th place on the WCT ranking and set to retain his spot on the elite tour.
